The Science
How Dysport Works
Dysport is a botulinum toxin type A formulation that temporarily blocks the nerve signal telling a targeted muscle to contract. When the muscle cannot fire, the overlying skin stops folding — and the dynamic wrinkle caused by that movement stops appearing.
Dysport has a slightly smaller molecular protein complex than Botox, which causes it to diffuse a few millimeters further from the injection point. This is not a disadvantage — it is a clinical property that Justine leverages intentionally. For larger surface areas like the forehead, this spread produces a more even, natural relaxation with fewer injection points required.
Dysport also tends to onset slightly faster than Botox — initial results often appear within 2 to 5 days rather than 7 to 14 days. Duration is comparable at 3 to 4 months. Dysport units are smaller than Botox units — approximately 3 Dysport units equal the effect of 1 Botox unit, which is why the per-unit price is lower while total treatment cost is comparable.
